Plan your project

A more consistent finish from room to room

Interior doors are part of the way you move through your home every day. A replacement project can address worn panels, mismatched styles or doors that no longer operate properly, while bringing the trim and hardware into a more consistent design.

Before ordering, we review the existing openings and discuss whether the project involves door slabs, complete prehung units or changes to the surrounding trim. That distinction matters because a new panel must suit the frame, hinge positions and hardware preparation if the old jamb is staying.

Details to decide before you order

Door style and construction

Compare smooth or paneled designs and available door constructions. Choose based on the room, finish preference and the products available for your project.

Slab or prehung replacement

A slab replaces the panel while a prehung unit includes the frame. We review the existing jamb and measurements before recommending the appropriate scope.

Trim, paint and hardware

Confirm casing profiles, handle finish and whether painting is included. Matching the surrounding baseboards and wall finish should be part of the plan.

Plan for privacy and comfortable operation

Bedrooms, bathrooms and offices have different needs. We discuss door handing, swing clearance, privacy locks and the transition above the finished floor. We also identify any jamb or wall repairs in the proposal. Replacing a household interior door is a different service from selecting an exterior impact-rated system.

Questions before you start

Interior Door Replacement questions

Can you keep my existing frames?

We inspect the jambs and measurements first. Reusing a frame may be practical when its condition and preparation suit the new door; otherwise we discuss complete replacement.

Is painting included?

Painting is included only when stated in the proposal. We confirm whether you want unfinished, primed or factory-finished products and how the final finish will be completed.

Can you replace several doors together?

Yes. Planning a group of doors helps coordinate styles, heights, trim and handles. We measure each opening individually before confirming the order.

Will a solid-core door make the room soundproof?

Do not treat a door replacement as a soundproofing guarantee. Sound also passes through gaps and surrounding construction. We can discuss privacy goals and suitable product options.
